My girlfriend's laptop just arrived, so I compared its screen to mine by putting them next to each other. I wish I've never done that.
Mine looks so much less brighter and not even white, but a little pale (yellow).
The screen are from the same manufacturer (AUO2077) with the same settings applied.

Is there anything I can do to make mine looks truly white at least?

Do you think I have any chance for a replacement? (The laptop is 7 months old).

My girlfriend's laptop screen is so much better and it is even less grainier.

    Thank you for your comments.

LCD change color very fast - your solution beside returning is to change the LCD back light (get from ebay). Or u can fine tune the RGB control panel and put more blue casting.

THere is no chance of replacement for free. But they will replace if u pay for it.

I just got a new Vostro 1500 last night, and I have the AU Optronics screen too. (WXGA+ with Truelife) and I got the Nvidia 128MB G86. I am *very* disappointed in the screen quality. Frosty, dull, dim and just lousy. It looks somewhat yellowish too, but I was hoping I could calibrate it with adobe gamma maybe.

All the forums I have come across are filled with people complaining about the Samsung and LG displays, so I am extremely tentative to think about trying to do a return.

My machine is refurbished, too, so maybe that's a factor as well. Big let down. I needed a good screen because I use photoshop almost exclusively and it has to be right. I don't know what I should do other than return the whole thing, (which I'd rather not do, but I don't want to go through the trouble of replacing anything only to end up with something worse).

I've read so many nightmare stories about this issue...
