sorry this isnt really an answer to your question just i had another ddr question and figured that i would ask it here

im looking into an inspiron 6000 and i looked it up and it comes with ddr2 memory, so would buying like 2 512 ddr sticks from newegg even work in the notebook since the memory it comes with is ddr2 or would that hundred be better spent upgrading to 512 (2x256) ddr2 dual channel sticks from dell?

i think i can answer your question (i read it in another topic). As long as the memory is the same type (ddr1, ddr2, number of pins, mhz and such) it will work. so it will be cheaper depending on the brand you pick.
