    hey guys,

So I just received my new xps 1530 today *yay* and i'm going to be changing bits and bobs asap. I just have a few queries, forgive me in advanced if these topics have been covered before.

    - I was poking around the system settings trying to locate which screen manufacturer it is, unfortunately i was unable to find it. Would someone be kind enough to show me where I am able to find the model/make of the screen

    - I'm planning of 'upgrading' :)P) from vista to xp. I have been looking for the latest xp drivers but the dell site only supports vista drivers. Where can i find the latest windows xp drivers.

    thanks again!

additionally, I have previously only invested in the ATI market and would usually use the omega modded drivers for the ATI card(s). Being my first nvidia what are the best drivers [official, modded etc]

The grainy screen thread shows how to find the manufacturer of the LCD.

L2vgo modded drivers are usually recommended to people who want to game(check out the stickes in the game section of the forum for more info)

ah, thanks kdawgca..strange thing is its showing up as AUO2077 - the screen isn't listed on the link you provided. Although this is a minor thing as I haven't noticed any 'grain' :)

    - abit of searching and i found the windows xp drivers
    - I'm also using 156.83 from laptopvideo2go, they appear to be the latest version although I'm not sure if they are the best?

    hey guys,

nearly setup the entire machine to work with windows xp, just one or two queries. When I was installing windows i was following a guide over from dellcommunity site and I had to do as followed:

So once I setup windows I went to revert the settings back and attempted to boot into windows, i got a quick BSOD and the machine rebooted - it kept doing this in a continuous loop. So I had to change the settings back to the ones I had to use when setting up windows.

my question is, are there any downsides to using these settings? Will it affect any performance on this machine?

Don't you need to install the Matrix Storage Driver before you switch from ATA to AHCI?
