That means that particular model being configured comes only with the standard 1yr mail-in service/wty w/tech support already included.

To some people it means be able to return your computer for any reasons at all for a whole year.

Technically it is suppose to mean you are covered for 1 year on any manufacturer's defect of any part inside your computer.

Basically something cause by you to the system that is outside normal use isn't covered (cracked case from you dropping your computer, you overclocking your computer and frying the cpu and so forth)

Pretty much never tell anyone from dell you overclocked, changed the os, installed programs that suppose to optimize your computer (fan usage, memory hacks, so forth), you did something like leave it in the sun all the time, ran it in a sauna, or anything else.

If ever you need to return it say you dont know what happened and it just stopped working one day, when the small crack started to form you thought it was nothing and now it's huge, the monitor just clicked off and no longer starts, and so forth. Don't give them any possible explanation because they will just use it to say you did something you weren't supposed to do thereby causing the damage you are claiming for the return.

    Thanks
so what's the difference between this and"1Yr Ltd Warranty"? do i need to chose "1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr At-Home Service, and 1Yr Technical Support" maybe ,2 or 3 year's warranty is more useful?

usually if you are careful and take care of your notebook nothing like that will happen.

I personally have never had a memory chip, monitor, computer just up and break causing me to return it. I've only had a battery or two die on me but I blame that on myself for not charging it properly and what not.

If you think you could possible put alot of stress on a computer to the point it breaks you might want a 3 year.

Too me it's not worth the cash because in general 3 years down the road your current computer might just cost $300 or something.

The main things to watch out for are the fans. If all of a sudden your computer starts going up to the point it's going to melt, you don't hear any fan activity going, or don't feel air moving out of the vents then you have a problem.

That's why I personally never mess with fan settings because you turn it up higher then it's suppose to go and you fry the unit.

Well I agree about the depreciation of PC's is a factor in thinking about a warranty. That being said, not every one can fork up cash for another rig every few years...and its to those people I was referring to. If you can afford to grab the new gadgets, more power to ya. Get the small warranty. However, If you wanna have the piece of mind and protect your rig, no matter how much its worth (Its all you have)...Then I say get the longer warranty and milk that suckers life before you have to save for a new one.
*Plus people have more upgrade options nowadays, so they're keeping their books and desktops longer.
