    rivatuner/atitools

keep changing back to default clock speeds (is it because of the drivers or something else?)

if it is a driver prob -
what drivers for the 8400m gs are you using?
    i'm currently using 163.11 vista32bit

no its suppose to do that!!
ntune etc are all software overclocks, every time you restart the program(eg restarting the computer) it resets back.

consider this a good thing, if you ever fry your gpu Dell would have no way of kknowing you OCed

Is this true? Because if so, I might think about this.

I"m not familiar with that... but some OC progs resets at reboot and reloads at startup to prevent you from screwing up your computer. Then again, I haven't been OCing for a long time.

jkim and I are both having the same problem. It has nothing to do with restarting the computer! Literally the INSTANT you set the memory or GPU clocks to a higher frequency, in RivaTuner, nTune, and ATITool, the slider snaps right back to the stock speed.

And we're using different driver versions. I have the 162.13s under Vista.
