i have a 9300 and i was wondering if i left it overnight would it overheat? all i am going to be running overnight is AIM. ive heard a little about 9300s getting hot but is it that big of a deal? i was thinking about getting a vantec and maybe that would help a little.

i wouldnt worry i left my 9300 on for a day and a half running memtest. when i was finished the temps were the same as if it was idle for an hour.

You could get a cooling pad from bestbuy or Office Max that plugs into a USB Port and sits under your computer so the computer will keep itself cool. I have seen them in stores and they really only cost $19.99

I leave mine running on all the time. The 9300 runs actually cooler than my desktop except during gaming, so leave it on all the time. Wouldn't the cooling pad block the two fans. I can see the point of it cooling around the memory bays but not the overall point.

I also leave mine on all the time, and it only gets hot when i leave it on my blanket. Just make sure that it has nothing like a blanket or clothes that are blocking the fan area, and you'll be fine.

Just for clarification: Fans take in from bottom, out from back? So I don't see how a cooling pad would "block". At least not the cooling pads with rubber pads for a gap and fans.

Also, mine runs quite hot when playing games. During idle times, or non-gaming times, it's quite cool. I've been using a room fan to blow in the gap between it and the table. Not sure if this is a bad idea.

you can adjust your power savings, I scratch my head though at this question as many ask the same thing. The longer your laptop is on, the less life it has, all electronics have an MTBF rating, that is maximum time before failuer, the more it is in use the more of that MTBF youre burning up which begs the question, why leave it on all night while you are sleeping to run aol instant messenger?

Laptops were not desinged to be on all of the time, they arent servers, I recommend you shut it off at night when you are asleep, thats just wasteful all the way around.

Well, i leave mine on to hear my skype calls, important emails notifiations, and updates with my rss feeds. Now if i didn't have my machine on, i couldnt hear those things... A good reason to keep it on. lol

I leave mine on for days at a time, as long as I am not leaving it on blankets, it is fine, I do like to use cooling pads through.
