so i got my 6000 a week or two ago and first thing first: :centrino: it's much better than my old P4-M

the first time that i tried to use my headphones with it, i was surprised by how loud it was. in pain, i held down on the lower volume button and nothing happens. press the mute button, no effect. the thing shows up on screen and nothing happens.

finally i explore a little and turns out the volume control for the headphones is in the actual sound thing, so apparently the buttons have no control over the volume when you plug in your headphones. seems like pretty shoddy design if that is the case right? anyone have this problem and gotten around it? thanks guys.

I don't have that problem. I can use the controls with my headphones. What program are you using to listen to music?

It sounds like you are using "line out" and not the headphone jack.
