dell is possibly willing to offer me some kind of deal since i mentioned i would much prefer the 1720 over the 1520 .. i may take them up on this it would still not be as good of a deal as i am getting on the 1520 though so id like to make up my mind for sure.. id really like to see the size difference side by side... anyone have pics to compare them... would appreciate it.. im just not sure im willing to give up over 500$ in compensations they would not be giving me on the 1720 even though they are giving me a deal on it..i just know the 17xx dont seem to have the screen issues of the 15xx series.. thanks

    I don't have a 1520 or a 1720, but I do have a 15.4" and 17" HP Compaq machines right in front of me...interested?

PM me if you want them and I'll take them before I go to bed tonight.

The dimensions may seem "close", however when you actually pick up a 17xx and hold it compared to a 15 inch laptop, it seems MUCH bigger. I can not give you a side by side comparision, however honestly I have never seen a 17 inch laptop I would consider portable.

but to me "portable" is not walking around or carrying it further than from the house to the car and into my shop.. the back home.. im not going to classes or having to carry it with me.. maybe a walk of 30-50 feet at most each day.. and it would give me more screen on my desk... im just trying to get an idea of them side by side in real life. i guess ill have to go back to the store to really see them.. i would really like to see the 2 dell's side by side though..

For just carrying it around your house, 17 inches would be fine. When you checkout laptops in the store make sure you pick them up and hold them for a bit. Its hard to get an idea of how big something feels when they have them bolted down to display racks.

yeah see everywhere a went office depot and best buy here all them bolted down so i can actually hold them and see how they feel thats why i picked a 15.4 just to be safe but im def kind of regretting it not so much for having the 17 over the 15 but it seems hardly anyone is having issues with the 17" ones where the 15's are having problems all over the place.. i just think if i had ordered a 17 i poss could have had a working system a month ago

my boss carries the m90 to and from work. surprisingly its not much bigger than the 15", nor much heavier. its deffinatly dooable and not a hassle. i almost wish i got a 17" rather than the 15.4
