i dont want the black one
im debating between the two, i would totally get the midnight blue one, but my girlfriend says that she's seen it before, and it looks like her dad's older blue inspiron 5100. which i really dont like the look of. anyone know which shade of midnight blue or the hex # it is?

im also considering getting the ruby red, it looks nice, can anyone else testify? (also looking for a darker shade of it)

Haha, funny you would ask that. My sister ordered the midnight blue inspiron. To her, it looked way to dark, and she said that the picture online was much brighter than it actually is in real life. We sent the laptop back, and had it exchanged for a ruby red one which looks MUCH better, and the red/silver isn't too bad either.

If you want to know what the colors will actually look like in normal use, look at at the right side of the notebook/top right on the dell site. The darker colors are usually what they end up as, since most people don't have lights shining DIRECTLY onto the notebook.

It is a very very dark blue. In low light it looks black. Even in medium light it looks black unless you have something that's truly black to compare it to.

The ruby red is nice -- a very red red, not orangy or pinkish.

Yep, its the same color/darker then the 5100. I don't like it personally. As I said before, I like the ruby red.

My midnight blue inspiron 1520 did look black before i pulled it out of the polythene wrapper and it did indeed look very dark. it does however appear to change in color dependent upon the lighting conditions, kind of like having pearlescent paint on a car..

im not regretting my decision of the color because although it is dark, its to my taste, but i do however think that the image on the dell website is slightly misleading.

I agree...I have midnight blue...and it is dark, unless you are in good light. But I like blue a lot (favorite color), so I'm sticking with mine. Can't tell you about the Ruby Red though..sorry...
