so ive been checking the price everyday to see if the price is going to come down and i notice today that the price went up $100. i think this is bull**** and it REALLY pisses me off, to the point where i might just spend the extra cash and get an asus laptop. i cant believe they had the balls to raise the freaking price, if anything, they should be lowering the price as the weeks pass. my vostro 1500 build was a T5470, 2GB RAM, 8600m GT, 120GB HD and it was $829 a couple days ago. i check today and now its $928. whats the freaking deal here?

When Dell(or any other company for that matter) releases a product it is always cheaper because demand is up, once the initail demand settles they need to make more money to make up for the loss of notebooks sold.

I would have told you to get the Asus even before, if you had mentioned it if you have I probably did not hear of it.

    Prices change as supply changes.

It's basic economics. If you wait, the price will change again.

hmm I don't see your point.
Demand & supply have a direct affect on price.
Another possibility is that the ODM raised prices.

... Could be worse... In canada that EXACT same config is $1323(or $1058.40 if you use the %20 off coupon) even though the cnd. is worth 1.03 USD now... I know this because up until this afternoon i was going to use it to get a deal(hopping to up the processor to a t7300 for $1300 which would be a GOOD deal in canada. Course the CSR said it would make the cost jump to $1600, so needless to say, i walked away.)

Not only does supply and demand affect the market price for computer components, but Llike many large companies introducing a new product line, they often practice a business marketing technique called "penetration pricing" (google it if you don't know). Basically you set the price of your products lower or near market value to attract consumers. Now that the Vostro has established a solid market share, it also has the credentials to up its value.
