I was talking with a rep today, about something other than the business PCs (was trying to config a insperon close to the price). She asked me if i was going to order and I said "not right now". She then told me that if i ordered on the phone the order goes faster than online, due to their load right now.... is this total BS? I figured they sat at a website like we have and clicked as you told them. Which leads me to wonder, do you need anything special to order a business PC on teh phone? Will they hassle you about not being a business? I have read here about some mixed responses regarding Tax IDs, and stuff... figured I would try to get a solid answer before i ordered.

    thanks

They probably just want credit for selling you the computer.

It benefits you to order over the phone as you can always haggle, and they can apply additional discounts. Keep in mind that Dell as multiple sales departments each competing against each other. End Result: they will work to keep you for themselves, in their department.

Personally I ordered online after configuring the same system through different departments. I ordered small business and entered my name as the business name. I'm not a business, but received no hassle. There's no way for them to prove you're not. I have heard however that if you choose large business it can get spotty if you're not part of one.

haha damnit... only if i knew earlier...
i re-ordered mine on phone after cancelling my online order. the sales person asks some weird question. like business name, what would the laptop be used for, what state/country, what type of business and etc. i dont think there are any tax related things. i made up a place. i just said "town business, restaurant, and etc."

Well the call went fine, the guy did ask stuff like what I would use the machine for, but nothing that was unusual. Things went fairly smoothly, if you save your cart the guy can just bring it up and confirm your order. I brought up the shipping charge (bout 40 bucks) and he instantly waived the fee to free. So calling def might give you a chance to talk something off your bill.

It is complete and utter nonsense. I ordered over the phone. It is still in build while a couple of other people who ordered the same time as I did have already gone to ship.
