    hi friends,
i have vostro 1400 n my OS dell gave me is vista basic(preinstalleD),they didnt give dvd to me,instead gave me a serial number.
vostro's vista doesnt have any crapware(trails wares etc...)unlike inspirons.
now i wish to install xp in ma system, thn put back ma vista(dual boot),
since i dont have vista dvd,i borrowed ma friend's vista home dvd... but his laptop is 6400 n dell gave this dvd to him.
my doubt is if i install vista from this dvd, will those all crapware get installed into my system???

    cheers!

Well regarding the installation of vista from your friend does not include the bloatware because its just vista that your trying to install.

Regarding your vista dvd I believe you need to call Dell and ask for that disc and ask them all the cds/dvds that this system should have. They should have shipped you with the necessary cds that is included.

For the Dual Boot installation, you just need to boot to the xp cd and install XP in a different partition so that you can have a dual boot in your computer.

    Hope this clears some things...

Well Dell is a computer company and they have their own softwares to sell so one way of advertising their products is by installing those trial versions into their systems so that customers can check them out and if they're ok w/ it and when that trial versions expired well basically customers need to purchase them to continue the usage of such softwares.
