I purchased a dell studio 15 a couple of months ago and the screen has cracked internally by just opening it, the lid to this laptop is so flimsy and now I have to pay to get a new screen as I did not get accidental cover this is just a joke.

Hey if I dropped it or was heavy handed with it I would understand but this is just shocking build quality

If anyone really does want this laptop you MUST get accidental cover as i'm pretty positive this will happen to you someday

First of I've heard of a 1558 screen cracking. You sure it didn't happen while the screen was closed? The bulk of laptop screen damage I've seen is when the laptop is folded shut and too much weight put in the center / on top, not through motion of the screen or hinge. I've opened my screen at various speeds, whether from the center or a corner of somewhere in between, and I've never noticed any flexing that would concern me.

My Studio 1458 flexes quite a bit when I open it. I believe that the screen cracked. I will be more careful from now on.
