Someone is selling a new in box Dell studio 17. Had it for 6 months. Purchases from either HSN or QVC... no receipt.
When he purchased from HSN or QVC... does Dell know he is the purchaser (name and address )?
If this computer needs repair...would I need to provide dell any records/recipts? Or it's fine as long as it has warranty left according to the service tag?

You will be able to transfer ownership of the computer to you once you get it. Dell's support pages has a form for you to fill out and then you are good to go.

the only way to find it out is to ask the seller for service tag number.
transfer of ownership needs service tag and express service code only, doesnt need any info of previous owners. -

once you add the service tag to your dell account, you can see everything on this computer, ship date, configurations, warranty terms, if system is lost/stolen .
