Hello. I'm a Dell Studio 1535 user. I have been getting a lot of "atikmdag" error since I got my laptop. It often happens especially when I'm playing video files. I have tried installing many versions of ATI Mobility Radeon drivers but to no avail. Is it possible that my graphic card is faulty? Should I contact Dell regarding this matter? Thanks.
Error message: Atikmdag has stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Are you overclocking the graphics card at all? That used to happen to me quite often when I had the core clocks set too high.
-
Nope. Both core clock and memory clock are at 500MHz, which is set by Dell I believe. I'm now using the driver found in Dell's Drivers and Downloads. I tried using the latest driver offered by ATI and modified it using Mobility Modder but the problem still persists too.

I just emailed Dell Support and they concluded that my graphic card is faulty. So they're sending an engineer over to replace the part.

Has this issue been fixed for you?
I purchased a Studio 1535 last year and have been plagued with this problem from day 1. I have been in contact with Dell support numerous times and as a result I've had three new motherboards installed, one new HDD, and yesterday I received a replacement laptop (Studio 1555).
The problem still happens with the Studio 1555, and googling seems to suggest that it is a problem with the ATI driver, so throwing more hardware at the problem (unless its a different make of video card) is not going to be much help.
