does anyone know if you can change the colors of the keyboard light like you can on alienware laptops? ive been wondering this since ive only seen the backlit keyboard in white, and i was hoping to maybe switch the color to that of my lappy?i think that would be awsome to see on a studio.

You cannot do it with software. You would have to disassemble the keyboard and color each individual LED with a marker or something (like JohnByeBye did), or if you're handy with a soldering iron, replace all the white LEDs with colored ones. It's actually a pretty popular DIY mod for gaming backlit desktop keyboards like the Logitech G15.

im not into the whole gaming thing but i just thought it would look bad lol
-
would it cost alot you think if i had a pro do it?
-
I dunno, ask a pro.
-
haha smart@$$ hmm do you know how much different color led lights cost? or should i ask the lights to?
-
LEDs shouldn't be too expensive, Radio Shack probably has the right kind. As for what kind that is, I haven't the slightest clue.

The marker way would probably work with the right markers and to be honest because I'm a little bit lazy, it's probably the way I'd do it - good suggestion
By the way, save the mods a job and don't try to bypass the language filters, it's against the forum rules. Personally I don't consider the words you're using to be foul language, but at the same time we should be aware that youngsters could be on these forums -
your right im sorry. and which markers would you suggest? sharpie just doesnt layer enough to make it stay that color. how would i be able to color them? are they under the keyboard or built into it? how do i get the keyboard up? my lappys in my sig

yea, mine is the graphite gray and red trim so the blueish color throws it off i think, so i kinda want to get red p.s. i need help finding led light bulbs (red ones please)

To be honest I couldn't recommend a marker pen as it was so long ago that I did this same thing (not in a laptop, but ). I'd maybe buy a cheap led torch from a local dollar or pound store type place (i'm assuming you have those wherever you live), and try a few different marker pens on each LED. If the LEDs in the keyboard though are not white to begin with, then you're going to have problems I think, because of the colour matching you wont be able to get red if they are already blue.
As for the LEDs, I would assume they are either under or part of the keyboard - here is the guide for removing the keyboard. Unfortunately it mentions nothing about the LEDs, so I guess you'd just need to look for yourself.
I said it was something that I would do and a good suggestion, but then I'm quite happy to tinker around and pull apart a computer without knowing if I've done it correctly or not. To me, that's part of the fun, taking it apart without reading the manualSo far, in the last 15 years or thereabouts, I've not managed to break a single one. There is still plenty of time though.....

haha i know that feeling i take apart cars and tvs but ive never really done it to a computer. i was told that i could *prob* take some red led lights from a car tail light or something. do you think that would work?
-
I think LED lights off the car tail light would be way too big. Not only that, it would probably require a lot more juice to light it up.
-
what about these?

To be honest I don't know what size LEDs are in there in the first place. Best bet is to scour the web to see if anyone else knows (which I briefly did but couldn't find) or take your machine to pieces to find out.

lol i would take it apart(if it wasnt delayed till on or before the 20th) but im just doing research so i can make all my adjustments to my lappy once it comes then just leave it be for a while
