Ok, I followed the instructions and walkthrough to format my M1210 laptop... I installed XP again, installed the drivers, and the basic programs that came with the laptop like the Sonic...

    I am still having problems..

    • My touch pad mouse isn't working right. It isn't scrolling when using the scroll arrows on the touch pad.
    • The WiFi switch on the side of the laptop can turn on and off WiFi, but will not bring up the wireless manager when slid into position.
    • When I use the front buttons for adjustingg audio, it will adjust the audio but does not show the audio adjustments on the screen like it used to.

and some other things that I can't think of off the top of my head.

I followed all the instructions and installed all the drivers... I don't know what I did (or didn't do).

If I did something wrong, its no problem to re-reformat because I'm not going to put anything on the hard drive until I know the problem is corrected.

    Have you installed Dell Quickset?

Also make sure that you installed the Synaptics mouse drivers. That is what enabled the scrolling bit. Quickset takes care of the wireless and volume stuff that you see on screen.

Ahh thanks guys. When I read the walkthrough, I thought the drivers that had to be installed were ONLY the ones checked..

    Thanks, problem solved
