    hey guys,

im new to the forum, i just got a Dell 700m and I was wondering if the battery is at 100% and I am running on AC power, would that damage or reduce the life of the battery? Should the battery be removed if running on AC Power?

Well, just the heat produced by the notebook alone would decrease the lifespan of the battery, though not by much if your notebook runs cool. Some notebooks continue to "trickle charge" the battery to keep it maintained at 100%. That would obviously wear it out eventually. On mine, I can set it not to charge if it's above a certain percentage. Try to see if you can do that; it would reduce the number of charge cycles, and extend the life of the battery.

It won't make a material long-term impact in the battery. If you're unplugged a good deal, it's not worth worrying about.

how did you set it not to charge once the battery was at 100%? I always thought it would do that by default...

no matter what the battery will eventually wear out. but with the adapter plug in all the time you shouldnt worry about it that much. i just suggest you to at least use the battery once in a while to let it run and not always on the adapter. everything else just enjoy that laptop :D
