it doesn't load up THAT much quicker.
    so, what are the benefits,
the only thing i can think of is that it might use less battery life (but i just got it, so i don't know)
does anyone know if this is the case?

Power saving is probably biggest benificiary in MediaDirect, in that you don't turn on every component to listen to music.

It's the only thing I've found to play DVD without stutter so far. Everything I've tried in Windows stutters... This laptop should be MUCH better than that!

I guess the simplicity of MD makes it attractive. I like the very plain interface to do very simple tasks. Also, without any special software, the MD picture slideshow is pretty nice. Of course you can do everything in MD within Windows. For most part, it's just preference.

Now that I have my computer, I'm a little disappointed about Media Direct. I wanted something that is almost instant on, and it isn't. Furthermore, the picture looks more pixelated than it does using media player or power DVD. I suppose I'll still use it if it uses less juice though. Well have to test it to see if it really does.

i too can't understand why it take so long to boot up MD
a bit annoying, as it's almost as long as windows

I read from someone that they gained 30-45minutes on a 6watt power supply while playing a dvd. It might not seem like much but that's probably like 15-25% more.

That's funny, even though I've now got smooth playback inside Windows, I think the DVD looks better in MediaDirect... maybe I'm crazy...LoL Will have to test more DVDs

I don't think it would since it would require a bluetooth driver to run and connect to your devices. I've never heard of anyone developing a boot-level bluetooth driver. Sorry :(
