Try to get one that has fans near the fans of your laptop.

Does your laptop overheat when you leave programs compiling? I have a Studio 15, and last semester I had a programming course which required pretty much exactly that, and I also did some relatively heavy gaming on it. Even after over a day of continuous compiling or several hours of marathon gaming, the CPU was not overheated. The hottest I ever saw it was 75 Celsius, and these things are rated to be safe at up to 105 Celsius. Measure your temperatures and decide if you really even need a cooling pad. The Studio series tends to run pretty cool.

ok...il jus do that...but wen i tuch the silver part around the tuchpad...it is very hot...but i never measured the temperatures.

but i think il need one coz i hav programming work for another 2-3 yrs and my programs need a few days(4-5 days per program) for compilation...so jus for safety sake and long life of my lappy.
    wat dyu say?

I have the Targus Chill Mat. It's not bad, it's not great. The fans don't line up well with the Studio 15's bottom vents, though.
