    hi,

Im about tu purchase XPS1530 in this config:
    C2D T8300 3MBcache, 2,4GHz
    4GB DDR2 2Dimm
    HDD a) 200GB 7200 b) 320GB 5400

and I want to ask, if it is worht that 100bucks to invest into the faster HDD. The config itself is pretty fast so I dont want it to get all slowed down by HDD. Will it be any noticible? is it worth the money? im just on the edge of what I wanted to invested into the laptop, so that 100USD would be over my budget limit. but if it will be a difference, Ill put it in...

The 320 5k drive will be close in speed to the other due to higher density of the platters. Save your money, it's not worth it for that much extra.

If it was say under 50, then yeah maybe. But definitely not 100 bux.

hmmz what a strange evolution, i had to call Dell to change to 200GB 7200rpm instead of 320GB 5400rpm and I got the 200GB €25 cheaper, i've heared other people had got €40 off

Stick with the 320Gb, $100 more for the 200Gb is not worth it. I got the 200GB on mine because it was only $50 and I was using a 20% off coupon so the actual cost was $40...

As for their claim about this being the largest 7200RPM, Samsung makes a 250GB 7200RPM drive and Fujitsu just announced a 320GB 7200RPM drive. :)
