I flashed my bios to ver. A07 over the weekend. It seems like it takes twice as long to load, it kind of hangs at the end. Anyone else have that problem?

Can I go back to an older ver. if I find one?

Thanks for the links but it is a 1720 I need it for.

I went from A02 to A07 so I wonder if that's why it’s so noticeable for me.

if the bar goes REALLY slowly, it'll go away after a few days

i think the bios is charging the CMOS battery....but its really wierd.

the first time i got my lappy it did that for like a week, then after each bios flash, once.

It should really only be slow on the first reboot - the new BIOS has to rescan, identify and configure the new hardware (as it see's it as it's a virgin BIOS). Once that's done it's configured and subsequent boots should be back to normal.

I have to say that you aren't the only person having this issue. I just got my new laptop (1720) just last week. After flashing to the A07 bios (originally came with A06) the POST gets slower and slower for every cold boot. If anyone knows how to get their hands on the A06 bios I'd like to give that a try again, but this crazy. It takes up words of 3 to 5 minutes to finally get to the Windows splash screen that Windows is loading. I've already troubleshooted this to the point of taking it apart (since I'm a tech) and only having the video card, RAM, CPU, and motherboard installed. Still no luck. My only thinking is that the CPU is the newest Core 2 Duo 2.5 proc, so I'm wondering if Dell hasn't found all the bugs with this CPU yet since it's so new (and very expensive to upgrade to), so many people may be looking past it. Luckely I did get a really good deal on this in the Dell Outlet site which probably explains the issue there with the Complete Care so they have to fix it. :) Not to mention it is still within the time period to return it if need be. At the moment they are sending me a new one, but would like to hunt down the A06 bios to test on it again.
