i got the black 1330 and right away i noticed that you can see the fingerprints of everyone that has touched it. clearly. it annoyed me since it was supposed to be a microsatin black finish, so i called dell just to see if i could get some money back. he recommended a full exchange and when i told him it wasn't a real big deal, he insisted on it. my question is: did i get a bad one, or is everyone with the black finish getting the fingerprint problem?
-
-
I have the same problem. I just wipe it all the time.
-
it's annoying though, isn't it? i mean, where's the microsatin finish that was supposed to "turn heads" like the ad says? oh well...
-
It sure turns heads. Just like alot of nice things, you should handle them with gloves on!!
-
seriously, does anyone have a black 1330 that fingerprints don't show up on?
-
No. That's the material. The slightly rough finish (what I presume is this microsatin thing you speak of) is holding onto all the oils. It's difficult to remove as well.
There's not much you can do about it short of returning it for a different color. -
I'm seriously considering using the original plastic covering on the lid on my d810 and cutting it down to fit my 1330...
-
just wipe it with a microfiber cloth. it makes it perfect again
-
actually, the "microsatin thing" i'm talking about is a coating that leaves the computer more glossy and repels fingerprints...at least that's what i was told. maybe i'm wrong though...
-
Come on people, it's a laptop, not a priceless diamond that should be stored in a glass case. Just use it - it'll get dirty.
-
i was just wondering if i had defective finish like the rep told me. if you don't have anything useful to say, then piss off...annoying...

I've noticed that after wiping mine with a wet clothe several times, it's no longer picking up the fingerprints! Don't exchange a perfectly good system. It won't fix this
-
thanks, i'll try that.
-
Do I have to quote myself? I already told you it's with all of them because it's a rough finish. What else do we need to say?
-
good idea, chuck. go "quote" yourself.
-
yea mine pick up fingerprint as well, Wiping with water helps?
someone tried yet? -
I just tried that - didn't really seem to do much. It's finger oils so I don't think the water alone's going to be able to remove it. It might have helped a bit, but I think that has more to do with the fact I wiped it and less with the dampness.
-
haha i see
i Don't see the finger print is that big of an issue compare to other manufacturing issue of this notebook. i don't really mind the finger Print i just avoid touching the Lid and just touch silver side. Problem solve lol XD -

It does remove it from mine. When I set a wet clothe, I don't mean a soaked, dripping one.. just damp
You need to wipe it very very well over the spots. If they're not coming off, you got some other problem. You don't seem some powerful cleaner to remove these fingerprint spots, just an adequately damp clothe. Windex seems to work well on mine too, and that doesn't cause any damage to the finish. Takes a few seconds to dry well.
I've wiped the finish on the lid really, really well and it's tough. Didn't cause any scratches or other issues. It cleans up great
black 1330 = lots of fingerprints?
