I have not heard of it on a XPS 1330 but I have a laptop with simular symtom as you described and i found that it was the port the LCD that was not secure take a look at this link and open up yuh laptop too see if their is a problem.

Seems like your video drivers are corrupt. Try updating the drivers -
thanks for answers
to be honest i don't want to try to open anything as i don't want to further damage it...but i wanted to know if it can really be a driver issue
i reinstalled windows and the problem hasn't disapeared...my screen randomly gets dark and starts to get lots of vertical colored lines until it gets almost white and then turns completely white and viceversa...also sometimes it gets all greeny...can someone give a clear advice of what to do? thanks in advance -
Hello,
This is Richard from the Dell Online Community Outreach group. Since you already reinstalled Windows then the problem is one of three possible things. It could be the onboard graphics processor, the LCD /inverter, or the LCD cable.
The first thing would be to check out how an external display functions while connected to the computer. The video connector is located on the left side of the chassis.
If the same problem appears on the external monitor then the motherboard would need to be replaced. The systems warranty will take care of that for you.
If the external display does not have any issues then the LCD/inverter or the cable are at fault. So, the next thing to check is the cable. First remove the hinge cover and the center control cover.
Next, remove the keyboard.
Once the keyboard has been removed you will see the blue pull-tab to the LCD cable. Gently pull it out and gently reset it back in place.
Put everything back together and see if that correct the display issue. If however, this does not correct the problem or you did not want to try this yourself, you should contact our technical support. If you like you can contact me at [email protected], place attention Richard in the subject line, or you can simply PM me on this forum.
