    hi, i have a inspiron 6000 with xp. recently the screen went blank after trying to start windows. i get the xp logo and loading bar then goes blank but the software continues to load. i have tried pc restore without resolving the problem. does anyonehave any ideas. dell did not supply cds when computer bought.

    It seems that explorer.exe is corrupted and is not recognised by the shell. I recommend a reinstall. Borrow some discs from a friend?

    Did you try, on the blank screen, ctrl+shift+esc to load the taskmanager? If this works, go to run and type explorer.
