whenever i close the lid of my e1705, the screen automatically gets turned off and then refuses to turn back on no matter what i do. its not hibernation because when i hit my power button, windows would actually power down instead of switching back to windows.

i check nearly all the settings under the power management menu, but no luck.

your power option might have been set to turn off the screen when you close the lid. try press Fn+F8 to turn it back on?

its weird, when i just press fn+f8 it doesnt do anything but if i spam it, it reopens back up the monitor....

but it still basically has the same problem though, fn-f8 only reopens back my monitor if i spam it.

try to open and close the lid many times, the screen will show back again. I did on mine, even though sometimes that screen never get back on. I have to restart it .

    Two suggestions:
    1.) upgrade/reflash the BIOS
2.) as khanhfat stated, slowly open up your lid. You can also close it and reopen it.

I had a similar problem and flashing the BIOS fixed mine.

I have the same problem on my inspiron 1300.
The strange thing is I had the same problem with my previous notebook which was of a different brand and much older. So, maybe it could also be a bug in Windows.

    1. Are you using Dell's stock drivers?
    2. When did the problem appear?
