Hi,
I bought this computer on spec..... no adapter, took it to a shop and had them plug it into their adapter. The screen came on then off, and seemed to go weaker and stronger. (The computer worked fine when plugged into their monitor.) At this point I'm wondering what the problem might be, and if someone with some experience on desktops (me) can fix it. I know this isn't much to go on, but any feedback would be appreciated. (I didn't buy the adapter.)
Thanks,
...... john

You may have either an invertor or backlight problem if indeed it is stable with an external monitor.

Hi Digiti,
Are these repairable by someone with average skills..... me?

Do you have your own adapter for it, would be a bit easier (and cheaper) to diagnose probably.
Try opening and closing the LCD - does this change it at all? If so, you're dealing with a bad cable somewhere.
If not, it's likely a bad inverter or a bad LCD. -
Hi Millermagic,
No.... I don't have an adapter. I'm trying to find a cheap one. I don't want to fork out the full price, incase it's a dead dog.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have obtained an adapter for this machine.
So....... here's what happens when I push the start button...........
The computer boots, the screen comes on for about 10 seconds, and appears to fluctuate slightly in brightness. After that it goes black (quickly), and remains so. However...... if I tilt the screen to a certain angle, I can read what is on it. Although it's very difficult to see, it is there.
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong here?
Thanks again,
..... john
