I'm completely new to laptops, and am finding myself a bit unsure of what is and what is not needed on the laptop.
I have already removed a bunch of garbage, but had some questions on others:
964plc32 (What the heck is this?)
Broadcom Management Programs
Dell Media Experience
Dell Support 3.1
Dell System Restore (Guessing I should hold onto that one)
Digital Content Portal
Digital Line Detect
Intel PROSet/Wireless Software
Internal Network Power Management
Modem Helper
NetWaiting
PhotoClick
PowerDVD 5.7
Print to Fax
Viewpoint Media Player
I'd like to dump as much as possibble, but don't wan't to mess up my ability to connect to the outside world wireless/wired, and certainly don't want to mess up the Media Direct stuff.
Any input would be appreciated... BTW: What was "Quick Set" or something like that? I accidentally uninstalled that while trying to dump Quickbooks trial.

Broadcom Management Programs -- ethernet program
Dell Media Experience -- program like MCE where you can view photos/music/dvds in a simple interface
Dell Support 3.1 -- checks your system for MS security programs and updates. Has some beneficial dell features, but I didn't like it much.
Dell System Restore --
Intel PROSet/Wireless Software -- wireless software for your wifi card
Internal Network Power Management -- part of the wireless software
Modem Helper -- related to your dial up modem
NetWaiting -- like call waiting for your dial up modem
PowerDVD 5.7 -- plays and decodes DVD
Print to Fax -- probably software that came with your printer if you've installed a printer
Viewpoint Media Player -- a browser plugin
Dell quickset is a program that allows users to quickly change between power management profiles (like maximize battery and maximize performance). Also required to run MediaDirect and has the popup boxes for volume/brightness. Some FN keys require this software to work properly
bloatware question
