    why does dell offer a blu-ray drive on the 1520s when there aren't 1080 livnes of resolution on a wsxga screen?

    Same reason why there are 720P HDTV's for sale (ie most LCD HDTV's).

    max 720p on the dell screen, but you can output 1080i with the VGA out to your TV

    too bad theres no HDMI...

    i know...im gonna miss integrated hdmi. but my point is that the whole revolution of blu-ray is that it supports 1080p right? anyways....thought it was interesting

    50gigs of storage on a disk is still useful for some people probably, albeit a small number dell probably still makes a profit on the blu-ray so they might as well offer it. plus offering it prevents losing potential customers who need/want it

    Techicaly, 720, Is HDTV. Standard is 480/or whatever the heck PAL is. Its a older version of HDTV that was phased out before it was put to any large scale use really-but...(Although, abc, fox, and espn can be found on it...) I think I've seen one or two dvds that had HD 720 content... and maybe a few games though-i seem to recall some odd circumstances with them.

    That said ^.^ Blueray without 1080i... Lolz. Because they can ^.^... Really, with a slightly improved codec format, DVDs can handle 1080i, just fine... So its all a joke in my book.
