The charger for my Dell Inspiron broke today and I don't think a store near me sells them. I could drive to MicroCenter or there is a BestBuy near me but I don't think they would have it. The model number is fa65ns0-00. Where should I get one or something compatible? Thanks a lot.

Hmm I found a generic charger that MicroCenter sells, think that might work? By the way, happy Thanksgiving if you're American.

You can use 3rd party, but I always recommend OEM parts for power related accessories (power adapters, batteries). Do you know which Dell adapter you need? 65, 90, 130 watt? Dell prices are nearly the same as 3rd party, but not too many places carry OEM ones.

The older Dells used to be picky about the adapter warnings, but again I only use OEM chargers. You can also disable adapter warnings in BIOS..

I've never had any major issues with generics or universals not charging batteries. Most of the time when this has happened to me it has been because either the generic/universal adapter was broken or the laptop motherboard was broken.

I'd say if you're absolutely sure that your motherboard isn't bad, you can be fairly confident that a generic or universal will work (though for how long, that I can't say).
