first i must thank all of you for posting tips, reccomendations etc, it has reallly helped me in picking a new laptop. (taking to college).
i think with the coupons now that are being offered (specifically the 750$ off any over 2000$, it is too good to pass up.
so i started building my 9300:
my question is, and this is really simple probably why is it worth it to spend 25$ for the upgraded wireless card? it doesn't say it is faster etc.
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11 a/b/g, 54Mbps) [add $25 or $1/month1] Centrino Mobile Technology
stupid question im sure, just want to know what that 25$ will give me.
any other must haves for this. right now i have
Intel Pentium® M Processor 750 (1.86 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen XGA+ Display (worth the upgrade for the true life?)
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm (or i have been reading about buying less memory and upgrading yourself, is this a better option?)
60GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (80 WHr)
256MB NVIDA® GeForce Go 6800 (for the gamer in me)
thats pretty much it, another thing i just wanted to ask is to make sure i can use my microsoft office XP that i bought for this computer (our home desktop) on the laptop, im sure this will work, and it would be nice as it would save 149$.
once again, cant thank you guys enough for what you have posted. ill be sure to post a review of this to help others.

Nice set up the evtra $25 is because it runs a/b/g as where the other only runs b/g not a big deal right now but down the road.
It is cheaper to buy after market ram than to buy it from dell. I just got a 1G chip from Kingston for $145.98 and it works great planning on getting another for my b-day.
hope this helped..
I have almost the exact same config. -
I wish I had gotten the DVD burner instead of the UXGA display. And maybe an extra battery. I agree that you could save a bit buying your RAM elsewhere. You dont need the g/b/a wireless. Hardly anyone uses 'a'. Everything else looks good. I am stoke with mine. Had it for a month now.

I would get the 256 and get a 1 GB kingston ram chip from mwave.com. I would get the sxga+ or uxga, the xga doesn't have that great of resolution. Its probably not worth it getting the a/b/g, as no one really uses it.
