    hey guys...n gals 2...
    i'm intrested in buyin a vostro 1500 notebook...T5470(1.6Ghz 800 FSB), 2GB RAM, 160 GB HD, nvidia 8400m....costing me some 48k indian rupees( appx 1200 USD)...i basically need it for workin on MS word/ excel/ powerpoint/ internet surfing..watchin movies..at times for light gaming..
    any comments...about processer/ grafics card....
    i can not increase my budget.
    T7250 will cost me another 6K Rs (150$)
    8600 wil cost me another 2800 Rs (70$)
    need help..

    go with 8600m and 7250 or better ... its costly to upgrade later

    The processor isnt worth it to upgrade and neither is the graphics card unless you want the best gaming possible. I have your specs in my my computer and its great for the money. I casual game once and a while and do similar tasks as you and i think it is not at all underpowered.

    I have the same config in my Vostro 1200 [without the graphics card], and its fine for all your stuff. Never game though.

    Besides if you cant up your budget the choices are out anyway right?

    Is the upgrade for Rs 1700 worth?
