okay i'm trying to decide if going from my inspiron 6000 with a 17" to an XPS 1530 is something i may regret later. I've gone to the store and looked over the 1530 in best buy and etc and the screen actually looks bigger than 15" screens did back when i bought my 6000 but then again the 17" screens today look bigger than back then ??? I guess what I'm asking is for those who went from a 17" to a 15" are you still happy with that choice? i really don't feel like waiting on the new Inspiron line and the deals on the 1530 right now are phenomenally hard to resist but i just wonder if 3 months from now I'll be looking for that extra real estate.

    Thanks all

I went from a 17 inch to a 14 inch and I found I needed to get used to it, but once I did it was great. It does depend what you want. If you want mobility, definitely go with the 15 inch, if you want more power, then go with a 17 inch.

Don't worry about the real estate, you can always get the same screen resoultion and it'll give you the same amount of space on the screen to fit stuff on. Technically there will be fewer pixels per inch, so it MIGHT be a little more difficult on your eyes, but from 17 inch to 15 inch, that difference won't be a whole lot.

true as the resolution in the end is what matters and considering my Inspiron only gets like 1280x800 then i'll actually do better no matter what i choose

I went from a 1440x900 17" to the M1530 which is 1680x1050 15.4". I found the difference in size to be minimal yet the lager rsolution has been great to work with.

Wow 1440x900 on a 17'' to 1680 on 15.4 inch... dang, that is quite an improvement.

Which matters more to you, game or mobility?

    I went from a 24" to a 13" (M1330), and I find it works just fine if I don't game.
