For games, it's the Graphics processor that counts, the CPU only counts for a little.

    Those games should run fine.

It should be, especially since your getting a 8600GT... GPU is more important than CPU in most new games.

The T5250 is 1.5GHz with 2MB cache and 667MHz FSB, it should be okay, but I'd seriously consider upgrading to the T7100 depending on cost. The thermals and performance on the 7000 series is just better, I don't think the price difference is large, I might be wrong though. If the price difference is large the T5250 is an okay option, just seems weird to get an expensive graphics card and then the slowest Santa Rosa processor out there.

High setting just takes more GPU power.. it's all about the GPU.

I think you will be able to play most games on high settings. Not maxed out AA or AF but still nice resolutions and textures. :)

Again, the bottleneck would be the GPU.

in games GPU counts way way more than the CPU, especially at high settings CPU have very little impact

People Seriously need to get out of the ONLY GPU mindset.

It really will only be the case for another year tops. Many RTS games are CPU restricted. Games that have a lot of complicated physics are also bound to be CPU restricted.

The CPU also sets up the GPU's work so it won't be bottlenecking the GPU.

In your case, you will be fine with most first person shooters but your machine will be crying on Supreme Commander (even after the optimization patches).

well considering the 8600M GT is a low-mid range level GPU, its certainly not going to be limited by CPU power.

I have The 5250 cpu with the 1280 x 800 screen and bioshock ran like a dream .I say get it. You can always upgrade the cpu if you really feel like you should.
