I had e4300 with the clock clicking noise because of the seagate harddrive, when I filed the return request, I cited a dell forum post where other users have reported similar issues.

But i have to say after the firmware update I did, the noise is reduced but still noticeable (at least to me, still like a clock in your laptop. ticking every 2 or 3 seconds, even when the pc is idle).. but the remaining noise could be due to the 7200rpm nature of this hard drive. who knows

so how does dell decide it will charge restocking fee or not.. I am waiting a CSR's reply about this.. hope he can give some good news.

You may or may not be charged a *restocking fee*, based on your situation I don't see them doing that!

Here is Dell's Return Policy (for bus.):

    Hope that helps!

Thank you. I just dont know when will they decide that if the returned product needs to be charged a stocking fee? can the CSR make the decision when issuing a return label or they will have people looking at it?

It would be up to those processing your paperwork, etc...once the lappy is received back in Dell's hands.. ;)

I don't think you will be charged one..(again based on your circumstances)
