behind my battery at the extreme left is what looks like a card slot with gold contacts, it's definetely not connecting to the battery or for bluetooth as I installed that myself under the hinge cover.

What is it masters of these forums?

Could it be the SIM card slot you are referring to? This is used for mobile broadband.

Nothing at all unless you have a cell card in there too and service for the account the sim card is on ;)

Yeah, you need a data plan plus an active sim card and the corresponding EVDO/HSDPA mobile broadband mini-pci card in order for that slot to do anything.

Don't try putting in the SIM-card of your cell phone though...
I did it... just to try it out... and my SIM-card blocked...
When I put it back in my mobile phone it said my card was blocked and I had to type my PUK-code.
Searched hours for that code, messing up the whole house... :p
But in the end I just went to the Belgacom (telecom) shop in town and they looked up my PUK-code on their website...

So... now's everything fine again... But I would advice you not to try it yourself... I assume there are special SIM-cards for PC's... :p
