what does dynamic switching exactly do? cuts the clock speed when you are idle? isnt that was Centrinos do to begin with?

Dynamic switching allows the CPU to throttle its speed depending on how much you stress the system. If the computer is idle, the CPU will run at its lower/lowest speed (600 MHz in most cases).
Yes, Pentium-M CPUs do do this without the help of Centrino Hardware Control...but with this program, we can monitor our temperatures AND undervolt the CPU if we choose to.
