if it has problems you can ge it replaced but many people have stated that dell cannot choose which screen manufacturer you will get with the new screen

i'm not 100% sure i'm just going by what has been said on the forums, but apparently you cant request lg specifically because dell has no choice of which screen manufacturer you get, they can only replace it with another one and its apparently just luck if the next one is grainy or not.

if your lcd now has no grain issues then why replace it? replacing it opens it up the risk of getting a grainy screen and having to do the replacement all over again

It's the whole bandwagon effect there. Because other people are having real problems, your brain is tricking you into seeing problems as well. If I kept posting that LG screens are horrible and will kill the user, and I keep doing it, you're going to want to switch to a AUO screen.

some of the auo are screens are the nicest i have ever seen on other brands of notebooks... i.e. asus uses one version of a auo screen and its simply awesome to look at... the only way you can pick which screen you want is if you have the in home service plan.. and even then its not easy to get them to send you the lg screen.. by you sending it in and telling them you have a screen issue you could open up a whole bag of worms and end up with a sec or other display thats a lot worse than yours is.. i know my first screen i ever got from them was a cpt and it had horrible light bleeding otherwise i would have kept it... now i wish i did and dealt with the light bleeding because that was the best screen ive seen yet from dell.. then i happened to get a auo next and it was horrid... then i have since only recieved the sec3350 which is total trash if i get another sec it will be my third one.. and at that point unless they replace it with the lg for me im done for good with dell..

the quality of each screen for is res is different even from the same brand. LG may be good for wsxga+, but their 1440 could be only decent. some even said AUO 1280 res are good. really depends. you can't specify the screen you want, but you could request if it's possible. that's what i did. they did say, that they may not be able to send the screen i want, but they definitely won't send the screen i'm currently using. so it all depends on how you would ask them. i guess luck had a little to play in my request.
