some people put "Samsung 17" or "LG" or in NBR reviews... they say this has the samsung lcd or lg philips... how do they figure it out without disecting your laptop?

    i have the dell 17" i9.3k trulife

    thanks

I remember now...the program is called Everest. I think! :) It should be able to tell you when brand LCD you have. :)

Is it just me or does it seem kind of crazy that we have to download a program in order to figure out what LCD we have?

I don't know of any other way though.

    Well,

I was looking on Dell.com and when you get into it, enter your service code number and look at your system specs. It told me on there also. :)

    Hope this helps.

I figured that would work except everytime I try to get into my specs on dell, it tells me the server is too busy. Guess it doesn't matter. i'm about to order the WUXGA+ (hope it doesn't cost arm & leg)

I have had the same problem the last couple of days. Dell site is really screwed up right now, from what I have heard. Somepeople are having to call in to place their online orders.

My friend talked to Dell and they said the IT department was working on the trouble, hopefully it will be resolved soon enough.

Device Manager -> Monitors -> Default Plug and Play monitor -> Properties -> Details -> Select Hardware ID from the dropdown.

The value tells the name of the company.

SEC -> Samsung ... LPL, ..etc.

Right Click 'Generic PnP Monitor' and select 'Properties'.
    Click Details
In the 'Property' pull down box click 'Hardware lds'

    Mine reads MONITOR/LPLE400 (LG Philips)
