within the past week, ive experienced choppy sound playback when playing a dvd in my e1505. It plays like the dvd is scratched. I have the Combo/DVD+RW Drives 8x CD/DVD burner. But when i play a cd it plays perfectly. Any suggestions ? ?

I got mine a few days ago and it does the same thing with sound and graphics. Right out of the box! I read the post about DMA and PIO and my primary is set at DMA, but my secondary won't let me change it from PIO to DMA. What's up with that? I can only play DVDs without choppiness using Media Direct.

Uninstall your secondary via System>Device Manager, let Windows auto-detect it again and follow instructions for installation. Then go back to secondary and change PIO Mode to DMA. It happened to me and that's roughly what I did, sorry if i skipped something.

That's what I did (w/ instructions from bttws) and it works fine. I couldn't switch the secondary channel from PIO to DMA without uninstalling and restarting my computer. I reinstalled the secondary when I rebooted and it works fine now.
