My computer would be here if it wasn't for the lcd displays. Apparently that didn't stop people who ordered the exact same computer after me to get theres today. Damn Dell.

As of today, the only delays listed on the site are the colored lids. I was contacted by my case manager today who verified that there are, according to him, NO delays on the LCD screens anymore. He ensured my that my order would ship (speced in sig) by 8/10, if not by 8/3. It's a different story no matter who you talk to, and I don't think it can be expected to give a list of delays that is in any way shape or form guaranteed accurate.

I was told that the 15" and 17" lcds are delayed. My case manager told me that they will have some in by the weekend.

if someone with the same specs as me gets their 1520 first I'm going to flip. People who have ordered just days ago are already using their laptops.

It really pisses me off. There are two people on this site who ordered after I did, got pretty much identical laptops (colors and HDD rpms were different). Dell has no way explaining why some people get preference over others.

For each discount you get, Dell delays your order by a week.

I wonder if the delays have anything to do with the method of payment. If you are paying with an outside credit card, or a debit card, Dell gets your money right away. If you are financing through Dell, they have to wait for their money.

So, when parts started being delayed, maybe they separated who got what was available by method of payment.

I'm not saying I know that, but I just wonder...

My order has been delayed twice, 1520, midnight blue, ordered July 7. I used Dell credit for my purchase.

I'm telling you it's color only, I ordered the same specs I had now except Midnight blue on the 16th of July, estimated ship date the 26. On the 26th I got the delay called, called canceled, switched to Black and my 1520 is on the Truck out for delivery to my house as I type t his.

I have seen at least one person who has gotten their 1520, midnight blue, and ordered after me. They had different builds then what I had, as far as screen type, processor and hard drive.

It pisses me off because there were no delays on red at the time that I ordered (just like there was none on black).

No delays when I ordered my red on 7/24. From everything I've heard today though, Zydan's right about the color being the only delaying factor as far as parts go. I still think no one will ever really know the truth though...we'll just get them when we get them. Some will driven by frustration to cancel, but I think Dell could care less.

The frustrating part about this is there are so many different stories about the delays that no one really knows for sure. Which I think it is extremely poor that communication within in a company is so poor that the customers are paying for it.

No, I used debit and it's still in the build stage. I got off the phone with a Dell person just now and they said that it has to do with them not expecting such high demand for the color lids.

There was a big push to get things shipped by dell to their carrier by 7/31 (in order for the product to be shipped by 8/1)

Since they missed that deadline, and are now in a diffrent financial quarter, there is no hurry for Dell.

question...I was just looking at my order status and I noticed that I had "next day shipping". did dell give me that as a freebe? I can't believe I haven't really noticed it (it's been there since I called them a few weeks ago).
