in power options i set 'when close lid' to 'do nothing'. it had worked fine for the last couple weeks up until today when all of a sudden the lcd will not turn off when the lid is closed. really strange. all i can think of was i disabled a couple of services last night before the problem occured..

    set to manual:
    Ati HotKey Poller
    Secondary Logon
    Security Center
    Shell Hardware Detection
    Webclient
    Windows Time

    set to disable:
    Application Layer Gateway Service
    Remote registry
    SSDP Discovery Service

but turning them back on does nothing to turn off the screen.. any help is appreciated. thanks.

You need to set the ATI Hotkey Poller to automatic. This turns the screen off when the lid is close.

You might need to reboot in for it to work properly.
