i have completecare on my system and i'm just curious how long it would take (regularly AFTER this mass of orders) for them to check it, pick it up, fix/replace it, and send it back?

i'm contemplating whether i should bring my desktop to university. if something (hoping to god nothing does) happen to my laptop, if it takes as long as it did for my order than i might bring my desktop so i actually have something to use.

really just trying to tie all loose ends in preparation to university. how long should everything take (from the accident to replacement?

if something happens am i allowed to try to savage the HD or am i not allowed to try to fix the problem/problems? (ie. waterspill, drop, etc)

If your work is really dependent on computing, you may want to bring an extra machine "just in case." Otherwise, I don't really see a need. Make regular backups of your important data and remember, you are going to a school, they will have computer labs you can use, in addition to roommates, friends, etc.

If you have space in a closet for a tower and monitor, go for it. Personally, I only bring my laptop when I go to school.

I don't see why you couldn't try to access what's on the hard disk before sending it in, in fact, I would recommend it; Dell may go ahead and wipe it for you!
