Just wanted to let everyone know that Dell ships LG Philips WXGA+ LCDs!

I requested a replacement screen on Monday (31st), and they promised me that I'd get "the same or a better" screen.

DHL just arrived - of course they come right before i have to go to work - and I cracked open the box to find an LG PHILIPS screen.

From what I hear, LG screens are the best screens for 15.4" models, and I'm eager to try it out on my Vostro 1400.

Hopefully i will have time tonite to check out my new screen.

But in the meantime, does anyone have a link to a guide to replacing the screens?

    Thanks :)

Are you absolutely sure that the LG is WXGA+ (1440x900) and not WXGA (1280x800)??

Cause i've heard of several people requesting replacemente 14.1' WXGA+ screens and receiving an incorrect WXGA model (not WXGA+), which was LG but does not have that extra resolution that for me is something absolutely necessary.

Well, hope to hear from you. After you have installed it could you mention how you now find it, and which screen you have prior to your repair? (AUO or SEC)

Also, why did you request the replace? Grainy screen?

    "WXGA+ Screen (SEC FTW!)"

So you think your screen 1st screen is the best, but you asked for a replacement?

I just got home from work, so I will be installing the LG soon - yes it is WXGA+!

When i initially got the notebook, the screen was great. But after a month's use... the leakage has seemed to increase.

    Worth a shot at least.

Did you install the screen yet?

I also got an LG and I found my SEC to be the better screen.

LG had more grain than the SEC and the Viewing angles were no better. Colors were not any better on the LG...

    What are your findings?

Well the LG definately has more grain, and I think the colors are the same.

However, light leakage is worse on SEC - very minimal on the LG.

My LG has awesome horizontal viewing angles, compared to the SEC.

I'm going to petition Dell for another screen replacement, we'll see what I get next time!

light leakage was the same for me aswell...

horizontal viewing angle was better on LG but kinda useless. I never look at my laptop from the side..... What I want are better vertical viewing angles....because that is controlled by the tilting of the screen... i'd like to move the screen up and down but can't because of horrible viewing angles...

LG really offered nothing over the SEC so I decided to go with the SEC.

Let us know what you get next time :)

Hi, just got to your forum because i was looking for info on the new LG Philips WXGA+ Panel.

I have an Acer Aspire 4520 and i've been flirting with the idea of upgrading its WXGA display to WXGA+. Can anyone tell me how is the connector that goes to the motherboard? The aspire 4520 has a 30 pin connector and i'm hoping that dell's one is somehow compatible :).
Maybe i'm just speaking nonsense but that's why i came here where people know about this.

    Thanks in advance
