Yes, you should be able to but you might have to tinker with the scaling of screen and other settings to get it just right.

As the other poster said, there is no reason why it shouldn't work.

If your laptop came with media direct it's pretty useful for using your laptop as a portable content machine.

I use it to play DVDs alot. I only wish I had a new enough HD TV to make use of the DVI on this sucker.

If your JVC TV has VGA, then use that. The quality is far superior. Simply connect up using an S-Video/VGA Cable and hit your external display quick key (Fn + ...)

    S-Video cable.

    Wal-Mart.

    Depends on length. <$10 for a 6 footer. <$20 for a 12 footer.

    1) Is your TV and notebook set on the same standard (PAL or NTSC)?
    2) Is the cable inserted all the way into both the notebook and TV?

I'm having this problem too, is there any TV driver i should download? My TV is from Philip. But if I connect to my Dell LCD, it auto detect the LCD "Name & Model" and the picture is great :)

Hpl912, yes, your television (if not multistandard) and laptop should already be set to NTSC.

69cents, is your laptop not working with your Philips TV? There are no special TV drivers.

If you are having problems with your laptop detecting your television, try shutting down your laptop, setting your television to the S-Video input the laptop is connected to, then boot up the laptop while connected to the television.
