hey guys, im close to ordering my first laptop but im a little nervous. can you guys let me know if im doing something stupid? thanks.
i think the biggest concern i have is that it doesnt have a separate video card but since im just going to be watching movies, im not sure how important it is. i chose the 1405 because of its relatively fast speed and cheap price.
Intel® Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB)
i dont know the difference between Wide Screen XGA and WXGA+ UltraSharp. can someone help me out with this?
i think thats actually it. i guess i just wanted some confirmation to help me know that im not making a dumb purchase. the total is around 1200+tax. thanks!

WXGA (Wide screen XGA) has a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. WXGA+ has a resolution of 1440x900 pixels. The text will look smaller, but it can fit more on the screen. You might want to look at the Dell Inspiron 640M. Here is a link

It is the same thing, except it is sold on the business side so it has the option of Windows Vista Business instead of Homer Premium.
Video cards are big with video games, video editing and 3D rendering. They do help with Windows Vista if you get the Business, Premium or Ultimate edition because they help the aero glass features work more smoothly. -
We've got half way decent reports of the GMA950 running Aero no problem...just get at least 1GB of memory. I fail to see why it would be a problem.
I owned one of the predecessors to the e1405, namely the XPS M140/630m. I've never seen a laptop with so much battery life in a single battery. Ever. -
I have the e1405. It runs Aero just fine, but you would probably need 1gb of ram. The internal video is more than enough to play movies. Movies don't require much in the way of video power, gaming does.
I'm using the ultrasharp screen. It's pretty glossy so thats a personal preference, but I like it. The higher resolution makes it worth it too.
couple questions re 1405
