    ive a dell studio 1555, its got a Pentium t4300 in , im wondering what other cpus i can upgrade to and is it worth upgrading the cpu, will i see a marked difference in speed if i do(depending on the options available )

    Okay if you have a PM45 you can pretty much use any Core 2 Duo with 1066 FSB. Don't know if you can put in a Core 2 Quad, as many BIOS with 1066 FSB support do not allow it.

    I would recommend a P8x00, as T9x00 series Penyrn are too expensive for the money and many benchmarks have shown extra cache and like 150-200 MHz difference offers no benefits for games/normal use. Consider a P8400, P8600 or P8700.

    That's good news thanks for that. If I go for a p 8xxx am I likely to see a decent performance jump from my current processor say in terms of editing photos converting video ?

    I mean in synthetic benchmarks like PassMark the P8600 scores 2000 more than the T4300, actual performance jump won't be significant. If you are rendering, you would want to have higher clock speeds.
