Can anyone confirm that the A04 hardware revision is an old model and that we're now up to A05/A06?

I had a service call in and Dell sent me another A04 - told the service tech to send it back but the tech I spoke to at Dell said A04 is the latest one and they wouldn't be sending it out if it still had the whining problem ie it's been fixed.

Not pulling apart my machine to have the same motherboard installed lol. so if anyone can confirm for sure that they have an A05 or A06 or anything above A04, that would be great.

    Thanks :)

    A04 is the latest.

I doubt the whine will ever be solved as the A04 main purpose was to stop the graphics cards from dying.

Just use RMClock to stop the whine.

OK. Tech support seems to think that it's a 'faulty' motherboard but somehow I doubt it's that, as there are many A04s that have this problem, though thousands also don't I guess.

Might be luck of the draw, but I'm not sure I want to take that risk :p

Mine has A09 bios too - we were discussing the hardware revision :p I'm trying to decide whether to risk replacing it for only a possible fix for the whine problem.

You are confusing yourself with Mobo revision with BIOS revision. I have the Mobo revision A04 and the BIOS revision A10 in my M1330.
