That's awkward. Try ordering it online.

Honestly, to hell with them if they're going to deny a customer the ability to purchase a product. Most businesses would never turn down a purchase (especially one around $1k). I haven't heard of anything like this.

I guess businesses could order them in bulk for their employees, but most "business laptops" are bought by individual business-men/women who do alot of traveling and etc, but essentially they are home-users as well as anyone else.

I hope that's not the case, as that's the hurdle i'll have to jump when ordering my latitude within the next couple of months.

Yeah I was pretty pissed. I argued my point with a few differnet people, telling them that I understood they were made for business men, but I'm going to college to become one etc. I had to settle for the e1505... Truth be told if it wasn't for the fact that I needed a notebook I just would have made my own desktop computer and saved myself the trouble.

    Anyone can order a Latitude.......

Just put your name in when it asks for Business Name when ordering from the Small Business website and your order will go straight through.

Go to the Small Business site, not Home.

Well given the fact that some schools offer discount on latitudes, I don't think there is any problem.

I've definitely never heard of this. Anyone can buy a Latitude. Hell, I'm using an old Latitude right now, and I'm only in my first year of college. I called about a Precision M90 (workstation notebook through small business section in case you didn't know) a few weeks ago and they never said anything like that again. I would either just order it online or call them back. And if they're going to give some crap that you can't buy a Latitude, I would take my business elsewhere. Unless you're happy with the E1505 that is...

I don't know how it worked for everyone else, but when I called in thats the response I got. I called home the first time and asked about the latitude and the guy told me that they couldn't sell them to a customer unless they had some tax number. I was confused so I called the business side thinking that the guy from home just didn't know what was going on. Then the business side said the same thing. I told the guy who kept trying to get me to get the e1505 that I knew you could spec' them both up the same but that I liked the aesthetics and build of the Latitude more than the inspiron. The only problem being I needed to order the computer yesterday, so I broke down and accepted the e1505. I don't regret the buy because most of the e1505's have good reviews but it's just not the same as the Latitudes.

I ordered without having a company per se. I just put in the name of where I work when it said the business name.

Interesting. I ordered my D620 as a Home User through phone. Told them straight that I am buying for home use.
