    Hello all,

I bought a latitude d620 from the outlet a couple of weeks ago. I love the computer, except the backlight inverter buzzes on battery power (unless the screen is set to full power). I have the lg-phillips 1280x800 screen. Do the other d620 screens have this problem or just the lg?

also, if i need to get a new screen anyways, has anyone tried to pay extra for a screen resolution change/replacement. I don't want a different computer since the outlet deal was fantastic, but I would be willing to pay extra for a better screen.

    Thanks for any help,

    I don't have a D620, so can't answer the first part.

I did pay extra to get a replacement. I ordered a new display through dell spare parts, but it cost about 500 (17in glossy screen). If you go with the upgrade, you'll most likely have to pay for the full cost of the screen. The upgraded screen will not be covered in your original warranty, but you do receive a 90 day warranty with it.

No buzzing with my old LG or the current Samsung on the D620.

    Thanks for the replies.

I can't picture myself spending $500 for a screen on a laptop that cost me $800 to begin with. It looks like i'll have to stick with the lower res screen and just hope that dell will send me a replacement that doesn't buzz.

yours is probably cheaper. Mine was more expensive because i have a 17in widescreen. If you want to get an estimate, you can call Dell at 800-372-3355. They will ask you for your service tag number.

I got my D620 last week and no buzzing. It was new.

Only noise I get is hd spinning and fan running.
